CEO Message

We hope to contribute to human health and happiness by participating in
the development of structure-based innovative drugs
using Protein Engineering and Cryo-EM.

Baobab AiBIO was founded in 2018 with the aim of dramatically reducing the time and cost of drug candidate discovery by introducing artificial intelligence and structure-based drug design to the long and costly process of drug discovery. BMDRC(Bioinformatics and Molecular Design Research Center), which led the establishment, has been a domestic pioneer in computer-aided drug discovery technology since its establishment in 1997, and has supported the establishment of our technology with its own developed platform and experts.

In computer-aided drug discovery, it is always necessary to verify the results at each stage, and especially in structure-based drug design, the most efficient research strategy is to confirm the structure of the designed target-ligand binding and proceed to the next stage of design based on this. In June 2021, we set up the first and only cryo-electron microscopy(Cryo-EM) system in a domestic biotech company, and through this, we established the structure of new protein targets and target-ligand binding structure identification technology and obtained a number of successful results. Cryo-EM system was set up by July 2022, and we now have 300KV Krios, 200KV Glacios and Aquilos2, with Single Particle Analysis and Cryo-Tomo modes working world-class.

Based on the accumulation of Cryo-EM technology and quantum mechanics-based protein engineering technology, BaobabAiBIO provides customized services to biopharmaceutical companies, especially antibody development companies. Currently, we have successfully identified the structure of various antibodies and performed protein engineering to help improve the properties and efficacy of antibodies. In addition, we are preparing for the near future by introducing quantum computing technology to introduce accurate simulation methods to SBDD and Proetin Engineering that are currently impossible to calculate with computers.

The baobab tree is a tree that grows in the dry desert regions of the tropics and subtropics and is called the “tree of life”. Like the baobab tree, which has grown strong for many years and provides many benefits to those around it, we will continue to challenge and research to improve human health and quality of life.
